Immer eine Toilette in deiner Nähe
I Die Lulu App
You have the option of downloading the app to a Google or Apple device for free. You have to register once with your email and a password. After that you already have the full selection of all public and paid toilets in the city. It is important that you have to change your Apple ID to the USA on Apple devices in order to load the app. Unfortunately, I can't make any statements about Google smartphones.
You can use a map to choose a bathroom, just like with Google Maps or Apple Maps.
As soon as you have found the right one for you, you will be shown the route to get there. The nice thing is that you can already see photos of the bathrooms while you are choosing.
I Public or fee-based?
As already described, you have the choice between public and paid toilets. The difference is this, that the payers of private z. B. restaurants or bars are offered. If you are not a guest and only want to use the bathroom, they then charge a small amount for use via the app. The cost can range from $0.99 to $4.50. Lulu speaks of an average price of $1.50, which is less than a water. For me a fair price to be able to use a toilet.
The restaurants also have the opportunity to reward you for a visit. If you go to the toilet in Bar A, you may get a 10% voucher for a drink there. You can also find the menu and other offers in the app.
I More than just toilets
Do you need a wheelchair-accessible bathroom or a changing table? If you search for it, the Lulu app gives you a list of bathroom amenities. Thus, Lulu tries to accommodate all of their customers' wishes. Personally, I think this is a good and important feature.
You can say that Lulu is Airbnb for toilets.
I Phase
Lulu is taking a path with the app that I think is right and important. Apps or maps for the public toilets are already known from other providers. The selection and possibility of using the toilets of restaurants is only available once.
I've often looked for a bathroom and had to travel long distances to find one. With Lulu, distances become shorter and the choice greater.
I personally think the average price of $1.50 is very fair. 65% of the income goes to the owner and the rest to the app. A small minus point is that you can only download the app with a USA account.
Since it's still a start-up, the choice gets even bigger over the years. I can only recommend you to try the app once.
