I The Vessel and its History
"Vessel" was opened on March 15, 2019. It quickly became one of New York's most popular attractions, not only for tourists but also for locals.
Climbing to the top was a truly breathtaking experience with a view like no other.
Unfortunately, the security measures of the "Vessel" were insufficient and several people chose this place to commit suicide.
After a series of suicides, the city decided to close "Vessel".
After some time, "Vessel" opened its doors again.
This time, however, an entrance fee of 10 dollars was charged. Previously you could go up for free. In addition to the 10 dollar entrance fee, it was also decided that you should only be accompanied on the "Vessel".

Only two months after reopening in June 2021, "Vessel" was closed again. A 14-year-old boy who was visiting with his family committed suicide.
Since then, the popular work of art has been closed again. It is not known if it will be closed temporarily or permanently.
I am of the opinion that there will probably not be a reopening.
Which would be a shame from a tourist and architectural point of view as it was a fantastic attraction.

I Is it worth a visit despite the closure?
Even if the "Vessel" is closed and you can't climb to the top, it's still worth a visit.
At certain times you have the opportunity to go inside the construction. From there you can take photos of the inside of "Vessel".
It is also a great photo motif from the outside and impresses with its size and architecture.
From there you can also visit other attractions such as Edge or City Climb.
